Last weekend, the world’s best cyclocross racers put on an end-of-season show.

Sanne Cant and Maud Kaptheijns went toe-to-toe in an exciting race for the overall title in the Belgian Superprestige series, and Mathieu van der Poel secured his 30th win of the season (matching a record previously set by Sven Nys) at the Brico Cross series in Hulst.

These races streamed live on FloBikes — the only place outside of Belgium to watch them. The races also officially concluded the FloBikes’ cyclocross season for 2017-18.

As spring approaches, the road racing season has begun in full force with WorldTour racing in Abu Dhabi and cobbled classics at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and Kurne-Brussels-Kurne.

Here at FloBikes, this annual transition in the racing seasons warrants a moment of reflection, and a look toward what’s ahead.

The site officially launched six months ago with the following mission: to bring bike racing fans top domestic and international live events, to tell big, beautiful stories from inside the sport, and to provide day-to-day coverage around the wide world of cycling.

In that span, FloBikes produced the live coverage at CrossVegas, where Katerina Nash and Laurens Sweeck stood atop the podium. And we also provided live coverage of almost every major cyclocross race in Belgium outside of the World Cups (the DVV Trofee, Superprestige, Soudal, and Brico Cross series, as well as the one-day classic Vlaamse Druivencross in Overijse).

We brought cycling fans in-depth video stories about Nate Brown, who wore the KOM jersey at the 2017 Tour de France; Tom Boonen, who’s transitioning from bike racing to motor sports; and Jonathan Page, America’s best ever male cross racer, who retired at the National Championships in Reno, Nevada.

We published features about Ellen Noble, who battled dietary issues prior to the 2017-18 cross season; Stephen Hyde, America’s new king of cross; and Al Donahue, the man behind the training methodology for some of North America’s best cyclocross racers. We also interviewed stars like Katie Compton, Kaitlin Keough, Elle Anderson, and Jeremy Powers.

With the beginning of the 2018 road, mountain bike, BMX, track, fixed gear criterium, and gravel seasons, there’s more to come from FloBikes. Much more.

We’ve been hard at work securing live events with both North American and international rights. For U.S. cycling fans, we’ll have a number of UCI 1.HC and 1.1 events, including the Tour of the Alps, the Italian National Road Championships, the women’s Giro d’Italia, and the one-day semi-classics leading into Il Lombardia, such as the Giro dell’Emilia.

For international viewers, we’ll provide live streams of the cobbled classics such as Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne (this Sunday) and E3 Harelbeke, as well as WorldTour stage races, like Pais Vasco, widely considered the hardest week of racing outside of the Tour de France.

We’ll continue to bring you articles and videos that highlight the heart and emotion of cycling, and we’ll begin to provide premium content focused on training and technique. Because we know that you, our audience, don’t just like to watch bike racing — you’re avid bike riders as well.

Finally, with a year to prepare for the 2018-19 cyclocross season, we intend on providing an unsurpassed level of coverage of both domestic and international cross racing.

We’re looking forward to the ride. And we hope you’ll join us.
