If you’re one of the top cyclists in the world, what do you do to kill time between a challenging ride through the Netherlands and chasing the fourth of the year’s five coveted Monuments?
You race again, of course, aiming for what has become known as the Ardennes Triple, a feat that has only been accomplished twice in six decades.
The three races of the action-packed week are the Amstel Gold Race (April 19), La Flèche Wallonne (April 22) and the final event on the Spring Classics schedule, Liège-Bastogne-Liège (April 26).
Together, they make up the Ardennes Classics, testing hopeful climbers in one-day races in Belgium and the Netherlands that come after a series of cobbled classics helps kick off the spring slate.
Each event also includes a women’s race, and fans in Canada can watch all the action live on FloBikes and the FloSports app. Viewers in the United States will be able to see the races on Peacock.

La Flèche Wallonne made its debut on the racing calendar in 1936, and the 90th edition will take the men on a 200-kilometer hilly ride from Herstal to Mur de Huy, while the La Flèche Wallonne Femmes 2026 will be a 148.2-kilometer jaunt from Huy to Mur de Huy.
The traditional finish of La Flèche Wallonne is at the summit of Mur de Huy, a 1.3-kilometer climb that reaches as high as 17% gradient.
As if that doesn’t sound daunting enough, they’ll get multiple opportunities to attack what has been nicknamed the “Wall of Huy” as part of a circuit they’ll repeat three times before the race concludes.
Last year, Slovenian superstar Tadej Pogacar was able to pull away from Kevin Vauquelin on the final lap to win the race by 10 seconds, and he went on to claim the hardware at the Liège-Bastogne-Liège for the second consecutive year.
Pogacar again was denied the elusive Ardennes Triple, however, as he’d been edged by Denmark’s Mattias Skjelmose in a sprint to the line at the 2025 Amstel Gold Race.
Pogacar also made a run at the trifecta in 2023, winning the Amstel Gold Race and La Flèche Wallonne, before crashing and being forced out of Liège-Bastogne-Liège with what turned out to be broken bones in his left wrist.
La Flèche Wallonne 2026 will see the men get underway at 4:10 a.m. Eastern, and the race is expected to finish around 9:15 a.m. EDT.
The women are scheduled to get going at about 7:40 a.m. Eastern and should be wrapping things up around 11:45 a.m. EDT.
La Flèche Wallonne Femmes was held for the first time in 1998, with two riders from the Netherlands accounting for 12 of the 28 possible titles. Anna van der Breggen tops the wins list with seven consecutive from 2015-2021, while Marianne Vos claimed five from 2007-2013.
Since Van der Breggen’s incredible run ended, there have been four different winners, including 2025 champion Puck Pieterse, also from the Netherlands.
Riders from the Netherlands have won 14 times overall, followed by the United Kingdom (four), Italy (four), France (two) and four countries with one win each.
The men’s race has been dominated by Belgium with 39 victories, followed by Italy with 18 and France with 11.
Spain’s Alejandro Valverde owns the most wins with five. He won his first in 2006 and then reigned for four consecutive years from 2014-2017. Five riders have won three times, and another eight have won twice, including Pogacar.
Who Will Be Battling For The La Flèche Wallonne Titles In 2026?
Though Pogacar has been busy this spring, has won three of his four major races and has much more ahead, he will not be making an appearance at La Flèche Wallonne in 2026.
He is fresh off a win at the 2026 Tour of Flanders and a runner-up finish to Wout van Aert at Paris-Roubaix 2026, but the next event on his schedule is Liège-Bastogne-Liège 2026.
So, who will be looking to succeed him at the top of the Flèche Wallonne podium?
The start list includes Vauquelin, Skjelmose, Remco Evenepoel, Tom Pidcock, Lenny Martinez, Paul Seixas, Giulio Ciccone, Matteo Jorgenson, Ben Healy, Julian Alaphilippe and many more capable riders.
The women’s roster includes Pieterse, Van der Breggen, 2014 champion Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, 2023 winner Demi Vollering, Juliette Berthet, Mijntje Geurts and Magdeleine Vallieres.
The Ardennes Classics And The Ardennes Triple
Only two riders in history have won the Amstel Gold Race, La Flèche Wallonne and Liège-Bastogne-Liège in the same year.
Italy’s Davide Rebellin accomplished the feat in 2004, and Belgian Phillipe Gilbert did it in 2011.
Four times since, two riders have won two of the three races. Valverde did it in 2015 and 2017, and Pogacar did it in 2023 and 2025.
