Arnaud Demare was relegated for headbutting Nils Politt in the final kilometers of stage five of the 2021 Paris-Nice. The relegation was inconsequential for the Frenchman who came across the line in 13th place, but he maintains his movements were purely defensive. The relegation demonstrates the UCI's increased vigilance in governing sprinting etiquette in the wake of Fabio Jakobsen's 2020 Tour of Poland crash.
