What many expected to be a breakaway day exploded into an all-out attacking battle over the famous Ca' del Poggio climb before Paul Magnier survived the attacks and stormed to his third stage victory of this year’s Giro.
A chaotic final in the rain gave fans one of the most exciting finishes of the race so far.
