George Bennett Breaks Helmet In Paris-Nice Crash, Foregoes Concussion Protocol

George Bennett of Team Jumbo Visma crashed hard in the final 30 kilometers of the 2021 Paris-Nice. He was seen on the side of the road with a dazed expression holding a cracked helmet.

Footage shows the Jumbo Visma director Sportif checking in with Bennett before the New Zealand champion rode away. The race doctor did not appear to reach Bennett in time to preform the UCI's concussion protocol.
In an interview with Grischa Niermann after the race, the Jumbo Visma D.S. said Bennett claimed to be ok. Nierann was unsure whether or not the concussion protocol had been followed.
