There are few prizes in cycling more coveted than the rainbow jerseys given to the winners at the various world championships, and two more Elite athletes will get to add to their wardrobes this week at the 2026 UCI Gravel World Championships.

The event will take place in Oct. 10-11 in Nannup, Western Australia, and feature the top performers from the recently concluded 47-event UCI Gravel World Series.

Cycling fans in the United States and Canada will be able to catch every minute of the two Elite races live on FloBikes and the FloSports app, beginning Friday (Oct. 9) at 10 p.m. Eastern, due to the 12-hour time difference.

This discipline is an exciting road-mountain bike hybrid, and it continues to see huge growth at the elite level.

The 2026 Gravel World Championships will be the fifth edition of the event and first held outside of Europe.

More than 50 elite women and over 100 elite men will make their way to Australia to test their skills over a diverse terrain that will include forests, farmland, multiple climbs and, of course, challenging gravel.

More specifically, the courses will feature a mix of dirt, red gravel, hard-packed clay, quartz, mica and pea gravel. The roads wind, climb, switch back and descend through pine plantations, forests and farms.

The climbs of 1-3.5 kilometers at steady gradients are spaced consistently throughout every route, with 13 of the climbs falling between Category 5 and Category 3, and the lower numbers being more difficult.

The Elite riders will be organized based on points won during the UCI Gravel World Series, points at last year’s UCI Gravel World Championships and points from elite competition in other disciplines.

The Elite women will face a 125-kilometer journey Oct. 10, and the men will have their turn in the spotlight over 144 kilometers Oct. 11.

The riders who finish in the top 25% of each competition during the UCI Gravel World Series from October of the previous year through September of the current campaign qualify for the UCI Gravel World Championships. The 2025-2026 Gravel World Series calendar included more than 45 events across 32 countries.

Entrants in the Elite races at the 2026 UCI Gravel Worlds will be representing their home countries.

The winners are considered the world champions and get to wear the rainbow jersey during all competitions of the same discipline during the following season.

But they won’t be the only ones hopping on their bikes down under, as there will be races for riders of all ages and skill levels.

In all, the 2026 UCI Gravel World Championships will feature the two Elite races and 13 gender- and age-based races, though only the Elite races will be broadcast on FloBikes.
