Two more champions were determined Monday at the 2026 UCI Road World Championships in Montreal, where Australia’s Felicity Wilson-Haffenden and Ryan Gal of the Netherlands reigned in the under-23 individual time trials.
The two conquered the 20.3- and 31.3-kilometer courses, respectively, to take the gold medals and coveted rainbow jerseys on the second of eight days of racing at the 93rd edition of the UCI Road World Championships.

The 21-year-old Wilson-Haffenden, who rides for Lidl-Trek, completed the women's course in 27:40, an average speed of 44kph.
The former hockey player only started cycling when the world slowed down during the COVID-19, and she has found quick success.
By 2023, she was a two-time Australian national champion (U19 time trial and road race) and went on to win the Women Junior Individual Time Trial at the 2023 Road World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, and added a win in the mixed team relay at the 2025 event in Kigali, Rwanda.
In adding the U23 world championship Monday, Wilson-Haffenden bested Nienke Vinke of the Netherlands by 29 seconds, with Belgium's Luca Vierstraete finishing third, another 17 seconds back. The U23 women's field included 52 riders.

The margin of victory on the men's side was a lot smaller, with Gal finishing just seven seconds ahead of Italy's Nicolas Milesi and 11 seconds faster than Hector Alvarez of Spain.
Gal, who won the U23 time trial national championship in the Netherlands in June, had to wait in the hot seat while 26 of the day's 67 riders tried to beat his time.
The winners in the Elite individual time trials that kicked off this year's UCI Road Worlds were Switzerland's Marlen Reusser and Belgium's Remco Evenepoel, both of whom successfully defended their 2025 titles. Evenepoel became the first rider in history to win the men's ITT four consecutive times.
The action in Montreal will resume Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. Eastern with the Team Time Trial Mixed Relay, followed by the Junior individual time trials.
