Jhonatan Narváez was a favorite to win Stage 11 of the Giro d’Italia 2026, and he delivered, holding off Enric Mas in a sprint for his third victory in this year's race.
Narváez, who represents the injury-decimated UAE Team Emirates - XRG, also won Stage 4 and Stage 8. He now owns five Giro stage wins overall.
Expectations for Wednesday's 195-kilometer ride were that it would be an uneventful day for the General Classification, and that was the case. Afonso Eulálio still leads Jonas Vingegaard by 27 seconds.

Stage 12 of the Giro d'Italia 2026 might look a bit familiar, as the route nearly mirrors what riders saw in Milan-San Remo in March - but in reverse.
That race, the first Monument of the year, was won by Slovenian star Tadej Pogacar, but he's not in action at this year's Giro.
This stage begins in Imperia and takes the riders on a 175-kilometer ride to Novi Ligure, reaching 2,250 meters of altitude gain. The climbing could take the sprinters out of contention, but those who can survive could battle for the win when things flatten out later in the day.
Stage 12 is scheduled to begin at 6:30 a.m. Eastern and should conclude around 10:45 a.m. EDT.

Again, the terrain and route in Stage 12 of the Giro d'Italia 2026 is similar to what competitors faced in this year's edition of Milan-San Remo, but in the opposite direction.
Does that help at all for those who raced in March? Probably not, but it could be a mental advantage over those who are not familiar with the landscape.
This stage reaches more than 2,200 meters of altitude, including two Category 3 climbs - Colle Giovo and Bric Berton, before things flatten out late in the day.
The last 3 kilometers are relatively straight, with only some roundabouts presenting a potential challenge. There's a corner with about 3,000 meters to go, which is followed by a 2,800-meter home stretch on wide asphalt.
Should the sprinters survive the climbing, reaching almost 5% gradient for almost 8 kilometers on each climb, they could fight for this win. What will aid their quest is the fact that there will be 50 kilometers after the second climb, and that should be enough room to make up any lost ground. At the same time, teams may try to prevent this, so success in Stage 12 will take some strategy.
The winner could come from a breakaway, or from a bunch sprint.
Considering where we were when the race moved from Bulgaria to Italy in Stage 4 - the southern tip of the Italian boot - we're now about as far northwest as you can go in Italy before crossing into France. Imperia and Novi Ligure are in the Piedmont Region of Italy.
Imperia is a coastal city in the southern portion of the region, and the day's ride will take the event inland.
The last time the Giro stopped in Novi Ligure was 2019. The area is the link between the famous Po Valley and the Ligurian Apennines Mountains.

Stage 12 of the Giro d'Italia 2025 was one for the sprinters, and from the start of the 172-kilometer day, there was no doubt about that.

Who Won The Giro d’Italia In 2025?
At 32 years old, Great Britain’s Simon Yates made history at the Giro d’Italia, not because of his age, but because he won the race without winning any of the 21 stages. It was the first time that happened since Alberto Contador did so a decade earlier.
It was the second Grand Tour victory for Yates, who won the Vuelta a España in 2018, and it will be his last, as he announced his retirement seven months after winning the Giro.
Yates didn’t secure the coveted pink jersey until Stage 20, when he shot past Richard Carapaz and longtime leader Isaac Del Toro on the Colle delle Finistre climb, one of the most anticipated challenges on the cycling calendar. The same climb broke Yates in his attempt to win the Giro in 2018.
Del Toro, who had ridden in pink for 11 days, might have fallen short in his GC bid, but he became the first athlete from North America to win the Best Young Rider title.
Heading into Stage 20, Del Toro was 43 seconds ahead of Carapaz and 1 minute, 21 seconds in front of Yates. By the end of the day, Yates was nearly four minutes clear of Del Toro, with Carapaz another minute back.
In 2024, Tadej Pogacar won the Giro d’Italia in 2024 as part of a memorable season that saw him become the first rider since 1998 to win the Giro and the Tour de France in the same season.
He then added a win at the 2024 World Championships in Switzerland to became the first cyclist since 1987 to win the Giro, TDF and a world championship in the same season.
