Giro d'Italia 2025 Stage 21 Preview: On To Rome
Simon Yates will wear the pink jersey in Stage 21 of the Giro d'Italia 2025, which traditionally is a celebratory ride with an exciting sprint finish.

Stage 20 of the Giro d'Italia 2025 offered a roller coaster of emotions, with the main spotlight shining on Great Britain's Simon Yates, who conquered one of the most challenging and iconic climbs in cycling to erase a deficit of 1 minutes, 21 seconds to claim the pink jersey.
Yates took the leader's jersey from 21-year-old Isaac del Toro, who was approaching two weeks as the leader of the General Classification.
Not only did Yates fly past Del Toro and 2019 Giro champion Richard Carapaz, who was second, he settled at the top of the standings with an advantage of almost four minutes headings into Sunday's final stage.
As is tradition, Stage 21 in Rome is expected to be celebratory and ceremonial, though there likely will be an exciting sprint finish for the final stage victory of the 2025 race.

Harper finished 1 minute, 49 seconds ahead of Alessandro Verre on the 205-kilometer jaunt from Verrès to Sestrière, while Yates was third (1 minute, 57 seconds).

Stage 21: Giro d’Italia 2025
This is the end of the line. We've reached the capital city of Italy - Rome! Everywhere you look there's history, and potentially two of the world's best cyclists will make history of their own.
Someone will win Stage 21 of the Giro d'Italia 2025, and someone will hoist the iconic trophy as the overall champion.
Given that the stage is almost entirely flat, it likely won't be the same person celebrating both victories, but crazier things have happened.
This final stage is a 143-kilometer circuit race around Rome. It begins with a neutralized parade through Vatican City and then back around to the start line. From there, riders will make eight laps around a 9.5 kilometer course, with the sprinters eventually battling for the stage win.
Last year (more below), Tim Merlier edged Jonathan Milan and Kaden Groves for the stage victory. It was Merlier's third stage win of the 2024 race.
At the same time, Tadej Pogacar was celebrating the overall title, which he won by a margin of almost 10 minutes.
With Pogacar not there to defend his title, who will take home the pink jersey?
