Stage 16 of the Giro d'Italia 2025 on Tuesday provided an array of emotions, as wet conditions saw a number of crashes early in the day, while XDS Astana Team teammates Christian Scaroni and Lorenzo Fortunato rode free and stole the spotlight, finishing first and second, respectively.

Stage 17: Giro d’Italia 2025
On paper, this 155-kilometer journey from San Michele All'Adige to Bormio is "easier" than the two prior stages and what's ahead in Stage 19 and Stage 20.
That said, Stage 17 of the Giro d'Italia 2025 is another mountain stage, and it features two long climbs. The Category 1 climb of Passo del Mortirolo reaches a whopping 16%!
For what it's worth to the exhausted riders, the last few kilometers after one last Category 3 climb are mostly downhill.
The last time a stage of the Giro finished in Bormio was 2017.
