Ecuador's Richard Carapaz proved in Stage 11 of the Giro d'Italia 2025 that even at 31 years old, he still has what it takes to succeed on the biggest stages in cycling.
Carapaz attacked on the final climb of Stage 11, and though his competitors were able to close the gap, he still won the stage by 10 seconds. The surge also helped him catapult from ninth place to sixth in the General Classification standings.
Overall leader Isaac del Toro, 21, sprinted in the final meters to finish second in Stage 11 and ensure that he gets to wear the pink leader's jersey for another day.
Stage 12 of the 2025 Giro will offer a different challenge, as the stage is expected to be one for the sprinters. It will be hilly at times, but features a flat finish as part of a 27-meter circuit they'll encounter two times.

Stage 12: Giro d’Italia 2025
The first two-thirds of Stage 12 of the Giro d'Italia 2025 has been described as rolling, lumpy, bumpy, hilly and up-and-down, but the rest of the 172-ride from Modena to Viadana is expected to be as flat as can be.
The stage will end with a 27-kilometer circuit the riders will see two times. It features wide roads and is mostly flat.
So what does that mean? It means a fast finish in an area known for fast Italian sports cars and the opportunity for the sprinters to take the spotlight, possibly for the last, or almost last, time in 2025.
There will be climbs along the way, even clearing 8% gradient at times, but the ride into Viadana - making its first Giro appearance - will be smooth and scenic.
