Stage 2: Giro d’Italia 2025
Stage 2 of the Giro d'Italia 2025 is relatively straightforward - it's a 13.7-kilometer individual time trial across Tirana, the capital city of Albania. Once riders reach the summit of the lone climb on this stage, they'll make a U-turn and head back on the other side of the road.
Sure, there will be twists and turns and different types of terrain, along with a single climb with an average gradient of 5.7%, but there's nothing about the day that makes it any less important.
Some might argue it's even more important, and for multiple reasons.
First, it can set the tone for the weeks ahead. Last year, Tadej Pogacar won Stage 2 and used that momentum to cruise to the Giro 2024 title. It was the first of six stage victories for the young Slovenian in 2024.
Second, with the 2025 course being so heavy on the climbing, this is an opportunity for the time-trial specialists to make some noise and possibly grab some time to work with later.
Oh, and the final 2 kilometers is the same as what the riders saw in Friday's Stage 1 finish, so things will be familiar.

Who Won Stage 2 Of The Giro d’Italia In 2024?
Slovenian superstar Tadej Pogacar entered the Giro d'Italia 2024 as the easy favorite, and though he didn't win Stage 1, he was the winner in Stage 2 and used that as a catapult to one of the largest margins of victory in race history.
The Stage 2 victory was Pogacar's first at the Giro, as 2024 marked his debut. It gave him a stage victory at each of cycling's three Grand Tours and was his eighth win in 12 days.
The route was 161 kilometers with a summit finish, and Pogacar finished 27 seconds ahead of Daniel Martinez. Pogacar's effort also was enough to take the pink leader's jersey from Stage 1 winner Jhonatan Narvaez.
Pogacar went on to win five more stages and won the Giro 2025 by nearly 10 minutes over Martinez.
