The riders didn't know it at the time, but the 2019 Tour de France GC would be decided on the Col de l'Iseran.

A hailstorm on the other side of the mountain rendered the rest of the course impassable, so times were taken at the top of the penultimate climb of the day.

Egan Bernal took the yellow jersey after stage 19, while Julian Alaphilippe struggled over the top of l'Iseran. Alaphilippe, presumably was saving energy for the descent and subsequent chase, but the opportunity to fight back was taken away from him by the weather, and with it, the lead of the race.

As a result, the Col de l'Iseran ultimately decided the final GC podium of the 2019 Tour de France. Watch highlights from the climb here.
