Mike Woods is one of the world’s best climbers, with a grand tour summit finish stage win and podiums at Liege-Bastogne-Liege and the mountainous Innsbruck World Championships. But for all his success, Woods had never beat the best in a head-to-head battle. 

On the mountaintop Superga finish at the 2019 Milano-Torino, Woods dropped Adam Yates, Egan Bernal and Jakob Fuglsang, then outsprinted Alejandro Valverde for the win.
