Spoiler

The race was characterized by a long action in which two athletes were protagonists: Alena Amialiusik (Canyon Sram Racing) and Ane Santesteban Gon (Ale Cipollini), achieving a 50-second advantage over a group of all the best athletes. Less than 28km from the finish line, the two were joined by Megan Guarnier (Boels Dolmans Cycling Team) and Malgorzata Jasinska (Movistar).

The four—Amialiusik, Santesteban, Guarnier, and Jasinska—managed to increase their advantage to almost a minute when there was only 20km left to the finish. Just 15km from the finish, a small group including Elisa Longo Borghini (Wiggle High5) and Chantal Blaak (Boels Dolmans) caught up with the four. Before the last climb to Orino, 12km from the finish, there were 13 riders in the lead. A strong Katarzyna Niewiadoma (Canyon) from Poland, broke away with less than 10km to go and was able to maintain her advantage, going on to win.
