Tadej Pogacar Wins Opening Stage Of 2026 Vuelta a España On His Home Streets Of Monaco

Tadej Pogačar is well on his way to becoming the greatest rider of all time, and perhaps the only place he hasn’t yet left his mark is the Vuelta a España.

The six-time Grand Tour champion wasted no time changing that by winning the Stage 1 individual time trial in his home city by less than one second. The victory also earned him the first red leader’s jersey of the 2026 race.

Pogačar’s only other appearance at La Vuelta came in 2019, and he finished third overall.
