2018 Domestic Cyclocross Rankings

Werner Still On Top, But Gaps Are Closing

It's a drag race at the front of the American men's field, and the huge number of races in the last week adds to the confusion of telling who's on top. Especially as riders like Stephen Hyde and Jeremy Powers battle injury and illness, and other riders like Kerry Werner opt to take a weekend off.

The field is reconfiguring itself in Stephen and Jeremy's absence, and the racing has become much more group-oriented. Most impressive are the young guns, like RenoCross winner Lance Haidet, who had great rides in Sacramento and in Boulder in the last two weeks and took advantage of the split fields as races went off on both sides of the country.

(Before we dive in, a reminder that the rankings are based on UCI ranking, racing trends this season, and plenty of subjective intel, wild speculation, Instagram Stories and industry gossip.)
