Italian sprinter Elia Viviani has signed on for the next three years with the Ineos cycling team, which on Monday also announced three other new riders, including Omar Fraile. Viviani, who won the track world championship elimination race last week, rode for Cofidis last season but had a spell with the British team run by Dave Brailsford, called Sky at the time, for three years, from 2015 to 2017.

The 2019 and 2020 editions of the Tour de France were won by two of the youngest riders in the history of the race. Tadej Pogacar and Egan Bernal are at the forefront of a new generation of young cyclists which are continually raising the bar and upsetting the established favorites. The 2021 Tour de France will be another battle between the dynamic youth and the experienced establishment.

Canadian Michael Woods timed his move to perfection on Tuesday to win the seventh stage at la Vuelta, as Richard Carapaz retained the overall lead.
