Stage 8 was another long, 200km stage, that turned out to be a quiet day for the peloton ahead of stage 9 finish on Roccaraso. The climb was added following the route change and postponed of the race. 

Joāo Almeida enjoyed another day in pink, hoping to have good legs on Sunday to maintain his lead in the general classification.
