The Vuelta a Burgos Féminas returns for its third edition on May 19th, 2022. The four-day Women’s WorldTour stage race concluded in an all Dutch podium last year. Defending champion Anna van der Breggen will return in 2022 as a director of SD Worx, while runner up Annemiek van Vleuten remains a heavy favorite for victory.

The Race Won't Get Any Easier

The Vuelta a Burgos Féminas, which takes place in the hills of northern Spain, just south of the Basque Country, will get increasingly challenging as the race goes on.

The undulating, 121-kilometer opening stage features a relatively flat finale, and should culminate in a long, curving sprint.

Stage two will be the final flat finish of the race, but sprinters will have to fight to stay in contention over two category-3 climbs, and numerous punchy uncategorized hills.

At 113 kilometers long, stage three is the shortest of the race, but finishes atop a category-3 summit. Another 3rd category climb may begin to break the race apart 20-kilometers before the finish.

The general classification will be decided on stage four. After cresting two category-3 climbs, the 125-kilometer stage concludes on the beyond category climb of Lagunas de Neila. The scenery should be stunning as the top women in the world battle up to 1,870 meters above sea level surrounded by a nature preserve known for its glacial lakes.

21 teams will take part in the third edition of the Vuelta a Burgos Féminas as the women’s peloton begins a busy summer of racing, culminating in the inaugural Tour de France Femmes.
