All About Peloton: The At-Home Fitness Gadget From A Cycling Perspective

One of the most popular exercise companies in the world right now is Peloton, and chances are you’ve heard of them. Whether you know someone who owns one or you’ve just seen their ads, the name “Peloton” has become embedded in today’s society.

While it’s a popular brand mostly known for the bikes, there’s a lot more to the company than one might realize. Their mission statement says, “Peloton uses technology and design to connect the world through fitness, empowering people to be the best versions of themselves anywhere, anytime.” For the past couple of years since their inception in 2012, Peloton has branded themselves as the at-home fitness company. With expansive workouts, machines, accessories, and instructors, this is not your average at-home gym, folks.

Peloton started out with a goal to bring exercise classes to people’s homes. After multiple fundraising movements, the company has solidified its standing to become the exercise giant they are today. They have expanded both their products and services greatly since their first cycling bike.

Bike

The Peloton Bike, measuring 4 feet by 2 feet, has a 22-inch HD touchscreen on top. As the first machine from the company, it was their main focus and is essentially how they got started in the industry. Besides basic features of adjustability and quietness, it also offers you to connect your vitals for real-time metrics so you can measure your heart rate beats per minute throughout your entire workout.

Tread

Peloton came out with their new treadmill, the Peloton Tread, late last year. Similar to the company’s bike, it is a very sleek-looking machine. They upped their features to a 32-inch HD touchscreen for the Tread, creating a very immersive and high-quality environment combined with a 20W soundbar. Another aspect of this treadmill is its low-impact and shock-absorbing slat belt and speed-adjusting knobs on the sides, making it an easy workout for different interval training.

Accessories

As part of Peloton’s expansion into more markets, they have added multiple accessories for both cycling and running. Some of these add-ons include cycling cleats, weights, heart rate monitors, headphones, running shoes, resistance bands, workout mats, apparel, and more! They have created an online experience that easily allows you to purchase the items you want for your workouts.

Programs

Alongside their hardware, Peloton has truly raised the bar as an exercise company by adding numerous and varied programs on either the bike, treadmill, or app. In addition to their cycling and running programs, they also have yoga, strength training, meditation, outdoor running, and bootcamps. No matter what workout you take part in you now have access to multiple instructor-led classes, making your living room the hottest gym in the city.

While all of these perks and benefits are very luxurious and amazing, it’s not without the price tag to follow. The Peloton Bike starts at $2,245 and the Tread starts at $4,295. If you want to join the Peloton family but maybe aren’t in the situation to afford a bike or treadmill, you can instead start a Peloton Digital Membership for $12.99/month. This membership gives you access to workout programs without the purchase of a Bike or Treat.

Peloton has made working out extremely easy and entertaining! While the price tag might be a bit much for some, there is no doubt their machines, gear, and programs have helped people all around the world.
