Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) decides on yellow as his favorite color with the 2020 Tour de France win on his radar.
Roglic plans to debut this year in Paris-Nice, starting March 8. He will build towards the Tour, starting June 27, when he will head the team with stars Tom Dumoulin and Steven Kruijswijk.
"For this year, I think it would be nice if it were yellow," he told FloBikes of his color of choice.
With stage wins in the Giro d'Italia and Tour de France, and the 2019 Vuelta a España overall title, he ranks as one of the best Grand Tour riders for 2020. After nearly winning the Giro d'Italia in May, placing second behind Richard Carapaz, he recovered and dominated Spain's Grand Tour.
"We learned a lot in 2019. We got a lot of experiences out of it. And hopefully, everything will help us in the new season," he added.
"It's true you learn somehow more out of the races [like the Giro] that you don't win, but on the other hand, also with winning the Vuelta, we still learned and you get some information and useful things for the next races.
"For the Giro, obviously, I was already maybe too good coming to the Giro and then I had quite a lot of problems with myself, with the team – it was a big lesson for all of us."
Roglic came to the Giro red hot, having won the overall in the UAE Tour, Tirreno-Adriatico, and the Tour de Romandie. He learned to dose his efforts and arrived ready to win the Vuelta. With that knowledge, he will be one of the most feared contenders for the Tour's yellow jersey in July. And the 30-year-old's not sure if he's even yet reached his full potential yet.
"I don't know. But at the moment, I can be happy. I am happy with the races that I won, with the things that I achieved. But you're always looking for more and fighting for more, and you want to stay on the top."
