Van Der Poel's Classics Campaign Takes Shape

RCS Sport, the owners of the Giro d'Italia have announced wildcard selections for four out of their six 2020 races.

The Giro d'Italia will feature exclusively Italian Pro Continental teams in 2020. The Italian grand tour included Israel Cycling Academy the past two years as the only non-Italian division two team. However, in 2020 Israel Cycling Academy has become Israel Start-Up Nation, and holds a WorldTour license, granting them automatic entry into all WorldTour events.

One day offerings from RCS Sport include Milan San Remo and Strade Bianche. Mathieu van der Poel's Correndon team is the most notable wild card selection included at the two spring Classics.

Van der Poel has not yet announced a spring racing program, but the Dutchman is expected to shift his focus to a busy classics season after the Cyclocross World Championships at the start of February.
