8. MVDP Cleaning Belgium’s Roads

Not all viral moments from this year are centered around victories. During Dwars Door Vlaanderen, the cameras caught Mathieu van der Poel doing something quite unusual–flicking a rock off the road with his front wheel as a courtesy to the riders behind him. This unexpected moment had nearly 100,000 impressions on social media, including over 200 likes and 50 retweets on Twitter.

7. Kuss Wins Stage 15 At La Vuelta

For U.S. fans, watching Sepp Kuss get the go-ahead on stage 15 of the Vuelta a España was an incredible moment. He rode with power & panache, distancing his rivals long before the finish and taking a well-deserved victory after riding in service of Primoz Roglic for the past two weeks. The clip of his celebration as he hi-fived fans all the way to the line reached over 60,000 people on Facebook and earned nearly 2,000 likes on Facebook & Instagram combined.

6. Roglic Removing His Jacket At The Giro

Primoz Roglic had a close call at this year’s Giro d’Italia while wearing the Maglia Rosa. On an exceptionally rainy and cold stage 5, Roglic had to enlist the help of his teammate in order to get his jacket off, but it ended up being much more difficult than either initially expected. Many shared the close call with friends, bringing it to over 300,000 impressions across social media.

5. Niccolo Bonifazio’s Descending Skills At MSR

Niccolo Bonifazio did his best to embody the “risk it for the biscuit” mindset at this year’s Milan-San Remo, avoiding a TV motorbike in the process as he careened down the winding descent off the Cipressa. The clip of Bonifazio flying by the motorbike reached nearly 20,000 people on Facebook alone and had an impressive engagement rate of 16.6% across all social media.

4. Quinn Simmon’s World Championship

No doubt one of the biggest storylines in American cycling this year, Quinn Simmons’ dominant performance in the UCI Road World Championships junior men’s road race had many chanting USA-USA-USA! 3. Mathieu van der Poel Wins Amstel Gold

Mathieu van der Poel’s win at Amstel Gold has to go down as one of the most dominant performances ever witnessed in professional cycling. The montage of Mathieu’s victory was viewed over 50,000 times, with 168,000 impressions.

2. Jesus Ezquerra’s Vuelta Proposal

One of the most heartfelt moments of the 2019 season has to belong to Jesús Ezquerra and his now fiancé. What appeared to be a routine trip back to the the team car for Ezquerra during a stage of the Vuelta Espana quickly turned into something extraordinary.

In front of live TV cameras and surrounded by teammates, Ezquerra reached into his jersey pocket and pulled out a wedding ring, which he presented to his girlfriend, who was along for a ride in the team car. This public proposal earned 310,000 impressions and counting, it’s a good thing she said yes. That could’ve been awkward.

1. Borah-Hansgrohe’s TTT Crash At Tirreno-Adriatico

The top spot on our list of 2019’s top viral moments belongs to Bora-Hansgrohe's disaster of a TTT during the opening stage of Tirreno-Adriatico. Thanks to a few careless and ignorant spectators crossing the road, coupled with poor course marshaling, the team's race came crashing to an abrupt halt, with riders colliding into spectators and sliding across the road. While it may not boast the massive impression numbers of some of the others on this list, it had an astounding engagement rate of over 20%, and made its way onto WorldStarHipHop, earning it the number one spot on our list.
