The Italian road race cycling championship on Sunday, raced over 226.9 kilometres between Borgo Val Taro and Compiano, near the northern city of Parma.

Bora-Hansgrohe rider Davide Formolo made a solo break to win the Italian road race cycling championship on Sunday, raced over 226.9 kilometres between Borgo Val Taro and Compiano, near the northern city of Parma.
Formolo made a break 25km from the line to finish with a 26sec advantage over pursuing pair Sonny Colbrelli and Alberto Bettiol respectively.
The 26-year-old, who finished 15th in this year's Giro d'Italia and second in the Liege-Bastogne-Liege race, takes the title from Italian sprinter Elia Viviani.
