The Top 6 Bike Rap Videos Of All Time

Astana Pro Team’s “First Ever Pro Cycling Rap” may not be the first, but is it the best? You decide.

The Top 6 Bike Rap Videos Of All Time

In response to the release of the Astana Pro Team’s “First Ever Pro Cycling Rap” music video, we compiled a list of our six favorite (and a nod to our least favorite) bike-related rap videos of all time.

In the spirit of investigative journalism, we've also uncovered a few pro cycling raps that pre-date Astana's—but are they better? You be the judge.

Scraper Bike

This Scraper Bike cycling rap came to fame at 2009's Bicycle Film Festival. A Scraper Bike is a bike that's been modified with various decorations, usually including heavily decorated spokes, and Trunk Boiz put together this slightly obscene, tongue-in-cheek rap about riding around town on these tricked-out bikes. The video has nearly 4 million views—Astana can't top that.

Best line: "I'm riding on foes / Riding on my scraper bike like I'm in the pros."

IFHT MTB VS Roadie

You cannot mention bike raps without a quick throwback to this 2014 Mountain Biker versus Roadie rap battle by IFHT Films. With 2,700,000 plus views, it's almost as popular as Scraper bike. And while it's not a video made by pro cyclists, the IFHT crew is know for their hilarious sporty parodies and it's one of the best-produced videos of the bunch.

Best line: "I wouldn't ride your bikes but I'd enduro your mom."

Y.N. RickKids

It's pretty impressive that these top three rap battles collectively have nearly 10 million views—including Y.N. RichKids with 3.5 million views to date on 'My Bike.'

Directed by Ben Hughes, this crew of kids riding home from school is the most heart-warming of the bunch, because what can possibly top talented young kids who love their bikes?

Best line: "Two wheels with a big 'ol frame, when I roll by chicks callin my name"

Ferda Girls (HUMBLE. Parody)

Despite only being a year old, this Ferda Girls parody of Kendrick Lamar's HUMBLE has over 1.3 million views. Downhiller Micayla Gatto and her mountain biking crew put together a fantastic women-only rap about blatant sexism amongst some cycling dudes, and show off rad skills on the trail. (The video was directed by IFHT, the company behind the mountain biker versus roadie rap battle.)

Best line: "Boys stop hatin’ go ride your friggin' bike! \ I am so god damn sick and tired of this pink sh*t \ Show me something rad with some black in a girl’s fit."

Kevin Swag Pauwels

Perhaps Belgian cyclocrosser Kevin Pauwels has only stayed in our top 25 rankings because we love the fact that he willingly created a rap video, showing more personality than we generally get to see from the Belgian National Team. And it wasn't just about cycling, it was about cyclocross. So then, is cyclocross rap a niche within a niche within a niche?

Best line: We have no idea, it's in Flemish. But it's all gold.

André Greipel

The year? 2015. The race? Le Tour de France. The rap? Featuring 'Da Gorilla,' or rather, pro roadie André Greipel with Muax. And OK, this one is not good, but it calls to mind a basement rap battle, a la 8 Mile. The best part is at the end when André wakes up and realizes that it was all a dream. Yikes.

Best line: "Pain in the legs, something you gotta know \ because you're setting up for the big show."

Astana Pro Team

Barring the fact that Asana needs to cool its jets about the 'first' pro cycling rappers (they clearly aren't), one must ask: Who is doing the writing for these guys? How much time do they have while on the bus between races? And is this, in fact, the best rap so far? Maybe if we're technically only talking about raps written by professional men's road cycling teams. A lot of discussion of their color choice, and weird flex around being from Kazakstan...

Best line: "I will rap this song like Snoop Doggy Dog."

Worst Rap Award

And the worst cycling rap of all time goes to...Performance from MC SpandX. (And trust us, the competition was fierce.) Officially the nerdiest of the raps, but also the most informative, with intel on cadence and efficiency. Also, minus tons of points for the "makes you look girly" line about hipsters. Seriously, how do these bike raps all have millions of views?

Best/worst line: "My brakes are tuned up, I can stop on a dime \ In the pack I'm always holding my line."
