Tour de Romandie always marks a change of season as a team's Ardenne campaign comes to a close and their multi-stage specialists take over. Many one-day champions head home for brief recovery while the rest of the pro peloton carries on.
The 2018 Tour de Romandie totals a distance of 686km over the course of six days of racing, including an opening-day prologue; a brutal 9.9km uphill time trial (at an eight percent gradient) on stage 4, and a vicious mountain stage on the race’s penultimate day featuring five climbs (three category 1, two category 2).
Though this race lives in the shadow of the Giro, there's enough firepower in the top 20 to make this an action-packed week.
