Men Pro: Cameron Wood Rides Off with the Sweep
There is no taming the Cowboy when he’s in the zone. Arizona’s Cameron (Cowboy) Wood put on an absolute masterclass on Sunday, completing a stunning weekend sweep of the ultra-competitive Men Pro class.
From the gate drop, Wood launched down the massive first straight with unmatched horsepower. Carving through turn one, Wood claimed the holeshot and never looked back. Behind him, Australian powerhouse Izaac Kennedy (Chase / Fly / Tioga / BRGStore.com) threw everything he had into the chase, but Wood was flawless, hitting his marks on the pro set and pulling away to cross the line for his third victory of the weekend. Young Australian sensation Josh Jolly (Time BMX / Meybo / TLD / Box BMX) rounded out the podium in third, cementing a dominant weekend of racing.
Women Pro: Reynolds Triumphs Amid First-Turn Carnage
If you want to win in Louisville, you have to survive. The Women Pro Main event delivered the day's most dramatic moment in a chaotic first turn that completely reshaped the race.
As the gate slammed down, the pack blasted side-by-side into the high-speed first corner. Disaster struck in dramatic fashion, ending the back of the pack's fight, while Reynolds made the dive and bumped Canada's Molly Simpson off track.
Emerging from the dust with veteran poise was Australia’s Lauren Reynolds (Factory Answer). Reynolds capitalized beautifully on the opening, steering clear of major carnage and powering into the lead down the second straight. From there, Reynolds put her head down, smooth and consistent, to take the win. Payton (P-Nut) Ridenour (Chase / Razor / BRGStore.com) chased hard to claim second, while Georgia’s Alexis (AA) Alden (Albe's-Zeronine-Box) rode a smart race to secure the final spot on the podium.
ABA Futures: "Diamond Lil" Shines Bright & Esposito Breaks Hearts
The future of BMX is in incredibly good hands, and Sunday belonged to Lily (Diamond Lil) Ashley. In the ABA Futures Women's class, the Midlothian, Texas native put together the lap of her life. Ashley blasted out of the gate, took control of the lead, and held off fierce pressure to secure her very first ABA Futures Women Main event victory. She was joined on the podium by Addison Thompson (BMX Sharks) in second and Preslie Gould (Factory Answer) in third.
In the ABA Futures Men's division, Evan (Easy E) Esposito (Albe's-Zeronine-Box) proved too quick to deny, taking the Sunday win. Tommy Bruney (Full Tilt / Rift) led a strong lap, but Esposito spoiled his winning hopes with a final-turn pass, forcing Bruney to settle for second.
Vet Pro: Jeff Upshaw Stays on Top
In Vet Pro, the "Big Jeff" show returned. Jeff Upshaw (Driven Cycling Academy/Crupi) showed why he is the defending Champion, navigating the demanding track and hungry field. Claiming his second win on the season, Upshaw was joined on the podium by Justin Riddell, who finished close behind in second, and Brandon Roharik (Standard Byke Co), rounding out the veteran podium in third.
