We’re just a few days removed from the 2026 edition of the Tour de France, and it now is time for the best female cyclists in the world to enjoy the spotlight for nine days of racing across Switzerland and France.
This year’s Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift will begin Aug. 1 in Lausanne, Switzerland, and conclude Aug. 9 in Nice, France.

The Tour de France Femmes, in its current format, debuted in 2022 and traditionally has been held following the men’s TDF in the summer.
Previously, the women’s race featured just eight stages, but a ninth day was added in 2025.
This year’s Swiss Grand Départ marks the second foreign start for the race, with the first coming in the Netherlands in 2024.
The route for 2026 was announced in October 2025 and features more distance and more climbing than ever before.
The schedule for the Tour de France Femmes 2026 includes three flat stages, three hilly stages, two mountain stages and a time trial for a total of 1,175 kilometers (~730 miles) of racing and 18,795 meters (61,663 feet) of vertical gain.
Among the new challenges is a summit finish on Mont Ventoux, the highest mountain in the Provence region of Southern France, affectionately known as the “Beast of Provence.”
The Beast also has become part of Tour de France lore after being featured for the first time in 2009.
In addition to some familiar terrain, the TDF Femmes includes the same classifications as the men’s race – General Classification (yellow jersey), Points Classification (green jersey), Mountains Classification (polka-dot jersey) and best young rider (white jersey).
The 2025 edition of the Tour de France Femmes was won by France’s all-around cycling star Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, who claimed two stages along the way. She also won Paris-Roubaix Femmes in 2025.
Through four years of TDF Femmes action, there have been four different winners. Will that trend continue this year, or will someone get the job done for the second time? The previous winners are Annemiek van Vleuten (2022), Demi Vollering (2023) and Katarzyna Niewiadoma (2024).
The recent Tour de France 2026 featured 21-grueling stages from July 4-26 and was won by Slovenian superstar Tadej Pogačar. It was his third consecutive victory and record-tying fifth win overall.
The two-time world champion joined Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault and Miguel Indurain as the most successful riders in TDF history.
The TDF 2026 was the race’s 113th edition and covered more than 3,300 kilometers.
The first three stages were held within Spain’s borders, marking the 27th foreign start in race history. Then, the beautiful and diverse terrain of France challenged the competitors until their ceremonial ride through Paris on July 26.

In February 2023, NBC Sports, Peacock and ASO announced a six-year deal that will keep NBC Sports as the home of the Tour de France and TDF Femmes in the United States through 2029.

Who Won The Tour de France Femmes In 2025?
Since the introduction of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift in 2022, four different riders have taken home the coveted yellow jersey.
In 2025, it was France’s all-around cycling star Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, who claimed two stages along the way. She also won Paris-Roubaix Femmes in 2025.
Ferrand-Prévot's pair of stage wins during the Tour de France Femmes 2025 came consecutively in the final two days of action. She ended up leading the General Classification by more than three and a half minutes.
Demi Vollering, the 2023 champion, finished second (3:42) and was followed by 2024 winner Katarzyna Niewiadoma.
The inaugural edition of the TDF Femmes in 2022 was won by Annemiek van Vleuten of the Netherlands.
