The self-proclaimed nickname came after successful past visits from the Pro Road National Championships and as a nod to the long-term relationship between the event and the city.
Charleston uniquely has facilities and terrain ideal for a road race, mountain biking and BMX racing, and it has been one of the few host cities that can hold every component on the Pro Road National Championships within its city limits.
Competitions this year will include individual time trials, criteriums and road races for each category – Junior Men, Junior Women, U23 Men, U23 Women, Men Elite and Women Elite.
Viewers in the United States and Canada can watch two of the biggest days of action unfold live on FloBikes and the FloSports app.
The variety of races during the week will take place on the roads of historic downtown Charleston and serve an even bigger purpose as a qualifying event for the U.S. Olympic Team in 2028.
Top cyclists from across the country will chase their Olympic dreams to the East Coast, where success also will earn them the opportunity to wear the iconic stars and stripes jersey awarded to all national champions.
Haddad Riverfront Park once again will be the backdrop for all the action, so any returning athletes will be comfortable and familiar with the area and the park.
Junior competitors in Charleston must be 17 or 18 years old, riders in the U23 category can be 19-22 and athletes must be 19 or old to compete in the Elite races.
The Pro Road National Championships has been held in its current form since 1985 and previously was open to riders of all nationalities, with the top American being named the national champion. Since 2006, however, it has been limited to athletes from the United States who meet the criteria found here.
The Pro Road National Championships made its debut in Charleston in 2024 after a six-year run in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The event has had more than just an economic impact on Charleston, which has been working tirelessly on enhancing areas of the city to make them more walking- and biking-friendly for enthusiasts of all skill levels, while also focusing on aesthetics and safety.
