Jonas Vingegaard secured overall victory at the Volta a Catalunya on Sunday, continuing his dominant start to the season, while Brady Gilmore claimed a surprise win on the final stage.

The Danish rider topped the general classification ahead of Lenny Martinez and Florian Lipowitz after taking control of the race with back-to-back solo wins in the Pyrenees.

Vingegaard, racing in the event for the first time, confirmed his status as pre-race favorite with a commanding performance throughout the week.

The two-time Tour de France champion also won Paris-Nice earlier this month and is building toward an ambitious Giro d'Italia and Tour de France double later this season.

Brady Gilmore Wins Barcelona Sprint Finale

Australian rider Brady Gilmore sprinted to victory in the final stage in Barcelona, edging Dorian Godon and Remco Evenepoel in a tight finish.

The 95km stage featured seven circuits of Montjuïc, the same climb that will feature in the Tour de France Grand Départ later this year.

Gilmore rides for the NSN team backed by former Barcelona footballer Andres Iniesta.

Godon, who had already won two stages in the race, came close to a third victory but was narrowly beaten at the line.

"In the end maybe I was just too confident, there was another rider who came from behind and nabbed it," Godon said.

"Still a good week but disappointing today."
