Isaac Del Toro moved to the brink of overall victory at Tirreno-Adriatico after winning the penultimate stage on Saturday and extending his lead in the general classification.

The UAE Team Emirates rider attacked on the final climb to Camerino at the end of a brutal 189km stage that featured nearly 3,900 meters of elevation gain.

The 22-year-old surged clear in the final meters to take his first stage win of the Race of the Two Seas.

Del Toro finished ahead of Tobias Johannessen after Giulio Pellizzari had tried to eliminate his deficit by attacking earlier on the steep climb which began three kilometers from the finish.

Pellizzari was eventually dropped inside the final 500 meters as Del Toro accelerated toward the stage victory.

Isaac Del Toro Extends Tirreno-Adriatico Race Lead

Del Toro now leads the overall standings by 42 seconds over Pellizzari heading into Sunday's final stage.

The closing stage to the coastal town of San Benedetto del Tronto is traditionally suited to the sprinters and is unlikely to threaten Del Toro's advantage.

If he holds the lead, the Mexican will secure his second stage race victory of 2026 following his triumph at the UAE Tour earlier this season.

Despite his strong form, Del Toro remains remembered for narrowly losing the Giro d'Italia last year after holding the race lead from stage nine before being overtaken on the penultimate day.
