Michael Valgren Solos To Win Tirreno-Adriatico 2026 Stage 5
Michael Valgren won Tirreno-Adriatico stage five while Isaac Del Toro reclaimed the overall race lead.

Michael Valgren claimed an emotional victory on stage five of Tirreno-Adriatico on Friday while Isaac Del Toro reclaimed the overall race lead.
The Danish rider from EF Education-EasyPost attacked from a long breakaway and held off the chasing favorites to win the 184km stage from Marotta-Mondolfo to Mombaroccio in Italy's Marche region.

Valgren broke clear from French veteran Julian Alaphilippe with five kilometers remaining after the pair had spent much of the day working together at the front.
"It's unbelievable. We all worked so hard for this," Valgren said after the finish.
"I just had a baby one month ago, so this is for them and for the team. For me it's just... I'm speechless."
"I had really good legs all day actually so I wanted to make an early attack and Julian came with me and we worked well together," he added.
"Then in the end, it was such a hard day, pushing all day, but I just had amazing legs and the luck."
The 34-year-old's victory marked his first win since suffering a devastating crash in 2022 that left him with a broken pelvis, a dislocated hip and severe knee injuries.
Valgren completed the stage in 4 hours 43 minutes 33 seconds.

Isaac Del Toro Moves Back Into Tirreno-Adriatico Lead
Behind the breakaway, UAE Team Emirates drove the pace of the chase group before Del Toro launched an attack on the final climb.
Only American rider Matteo Jorgenson of Team Visma-Lease a Bike was able to follow the Mexican.
The pair crossed the finish line 11 seconds behind Valgren, with Del Toro claiming second place and a six-second time bonus.
Overnight leader Giulio Pellizzari finished sixth, 30 seconds behind Valgren, and slipped to second place overall.
Del Toro now leads the general classification by 23 seconds heading into the next stage.
