Spanish champion Ivan Romeo sealed overall victory at the Vuelta a Andalucía after Briton Tom Pidcock won Sunday's hilly fifth and final stage.

Tom Pidcock Attacks On Alto De La Primera Cruz

Double Olympic mountain bike champion Pidcock attacked one kilometer from the summit of the final climb of the day, the Alto de la Primera Cruz, some 5km from the finish, and held off Switzerland's Jan Christen to win the stage by 10 seconds.

Frenchman Romain Gregoire led home a small group including Romeo, who was sixth on the day, 12 seconds behind Pidcock, who has been world champion in both mountain biking and cyclo-cross.

Ivan Romeo Seals Fifth Career Victory

Romeo, 22, held onto his overall lead from Norwegian Andreas Leknessund, with Pidcock snatching third spot.

This was already a fifth career victory for Romeo, who won the second stage on Thursday and announced himself to the world last year when claiming the third stage of the prestigious Critérium du Dauphiné.
