Isaac Del Toro delivered a statement performance on Jebel Hafeet, seizing control of the UAE Tour with a powerful solo victory on the race’s decisive mountain stage.

The 22-year-old Mexican proved untouchable on the final climb, dropping Antonio Tiberi and Felix Gall before riding alone to the summit. With the win, Del Toro not only claimed the stage but also took firm command of the overall standings.

The stage began with an early breakaway of seven riders, including Joshua Tarling and Stefan Bissegger. As the race approached the foot of Jebel Hafeet, the peloton reeled them back, and the favorites began to show their hands.

Gall and Tiberi made the first serious move on the climb, opening a small gap. Del Toro responded calmly, bridging across before launching his decisive acceleration just over a kilometer from the finish. Tiberi could not follow. Neither could anyone else.

Behind, Remco Evenepoel attempted to ignite the chase but struggled to match the pace as the gradient bit. He was dropped around five kilometers from the line and was unable to rejoin the leading group. It marked another difficult summit finish for the Belgian, who slipped further down the general classification.

Del Toro’s victory gives him a 20-second advantage over Tiberi heading into the final stage in Abu Dhabi. With Sunday’s route expected to end in a bunch sprint, the Mexican now appears firmly in control of the overall title.

Evenepoel sits tenth overall, 2 minutes and 25 seconds behind the new race leader, while Lennert Van Eetvelt limited his losses and remains in sixth place.

For Del Toro, however, Jebel Hafeet confirmed what many already suspected: he is more than just a rising talent. He is ready to lead.
