Tour Down Under winner Jay Vine suffered a broken wrist after colliding with a kangaroo, requiring surgery following the final stage.

UAE Team Emirates rider Jay Vine suffered a broken wrist in a collision with a kangaroo during the final stage of the Tour Down Under last weekend, his team said Tuesday.
The Australian, who managed to finish the stage and complete overall victory, was knocked off his bike after crashing into a kangaroo less than halfway through the 169.8km fifth stage on Sunday.
Jay Vine Undergoes Surgery After Final-Stage Crash
"After the race Jay reported pain in his wrist from his crash during the final stage. After medical review, it was found that he sustained a significant left wrist scaphoid fracture, and underwent successful surgery on Tuesday morning," said UAE medical director Adrian Rotunno in a team statement.
"He will be withdrawn from competition for post-op recovery and rehabilitation."
