Tour de France 2025 Stage 3 Preview

Stage 3 of the 2025 Tour de France continues the northern route with a 178-kilometer stage from Valenciennes to Dunkirk, offering another opportunity for the sprinters and their leadout trains.

Mathieu Van der Poel will wear the yellow jersey after winning Stage 2 of the Tour de France.

The route travels across mostly flat roads in the Nord and Pas-de-Calais departments. With exposure to wind and a technical urban finish in Dunkirk, the day will demand precise positioning and tactical awareness. While it lacks the cobbles of past northern stages, the terrain can still fracture if conditions turn.

Dunkirk has frequently featured in Tour de France history and is known for dramatic sprints. Riders must navigate several roundabouts and narrow sections before a wide finishing straight along the coast.
