As cyclists are in the final stages of preparation for the Tour de France 2025, which begins July 5 in Lille, France, they are also preparing for 10 consecutive days of racing before getting a well-earned break.
The first rest day will not be until July 15, when teams will rest in Toulouse for Bastille Day.

The Tour will start with a loop around Lille before moving to other parts of France, and cyclists will cover a distance of 1,656.8 kilometers before taking a rest day.
Why Is The First Rest Day July 15?
June 14 is a national holiday in France, as it is Bastille Day, which commemorates the storming of the Bastille in 1789, and is a symbol of the end of the monarch during the French Revolution. The next day, following the Bastille Day celebrations, is when the cyclists will have a day off to rest.
