Stage 3: Tour de France 2025
Stage 3 of the Tour de France 2025 is considered to be a flat 178.3 ride from Valenciennes to Dunkirk, though there will be one Category 4 climb late in the day.
Beyond that basic 3.8% gradient, the biggest challenge of the journey will be provided by Mother Nature, as crosswinds are expected to play a part in the final 35 kilometers. Which direction the wind will come from, along with the intensity, are the unknowns.
Once the winds are handled, the terrain itself favors the likelihood of a bunch sprint to determine the day's winner.
The last time the Tour de France passed through Dunkirk was 2022, but the last time a stage finished there was the opening stage of the 2001 edition.
As always, 10, 6 and 4 bonus seconds will be awarded to the first three finishers.
