Surrounded by fans from his home country, Belgium's Jasper Philipsen won the opening stage of the Tour de France 2025 in an exciting sprint finish in Lille, France.

It was the 10th career stage win for Philipsen at the Tour de France and earned him the first coveted yellow jersey of this year's race, which was a dream come true.

Ahead in Stage 2 on Sunday is a little bit of everything - distance, as it's the longest stage of the 2025 TDF, some hills, elevation, a few categorized climbs and a lot of motivation from those who might have fallen behind Saturday.

Last year's green jersey winner, Biniam Girmay, was second in the opening stage Saturday and was followed by Søren Wærenskjold, Anthony Turgis and Matteo Trentin.

The day also was filled with some uncharacteristic crashes and miscues.

For viewers in Canada, FloBikes coverage of Stage 2 will begin at 6:05 a.m. Eastern and is expected to conclude around 12:10 p.m. EDT.

Here’s what to know about Stage 2 of the Tour de France 2025, a 209.1-kilometer ride from Lauwin-Planque to Boulogne-sur-Mer. It's the longest stage of the 2025 race.

In the United States, the Tour de France will be on the NBC family of networks and will stream daily on Peacock. Select stages will air on local NBC affiliates, while others, plus stage reruns, will be shown on the USA Network.

Stage 2: Tour de France 2025

Stage 2 of the Tour de France 2025 introduces the riders to their first hilly terrain of the year, and they'll really be challenged in the final 30 kilometers of the day's 209.1-kilometer trek from Lauwin-Planque to Boulogne-sur-Mer.

This is the longest stage of the 2025 race and one of two over 200 kilometers. The other is a 201.5-kilometer hilly ride in Stage 6.

As they near the finish of the stage, they'll face three challenging climbs - Category 3, Category 3 and Category 4, respectively.

In all, they'll see more than 2,500 meters of climbing and tackle gradients in the double digits.

Boulogne-sur-Mer has been the location of a handful of TDF stage finishes. The first was in 1949, and the most recent was in 2012, though the final part was configured different than the competitors will see in 2025.

As always, 10, 6 and 4 bonus seconds will be awarded to the first three finishers.
