Stefan Küng won the opening stage of the 2023 Tour de Suisse on Sunday in Einsiedeln, 70 kilometers from the village of Wilen, where he was born.

Groupama-FDJ's Küng, 29, finished the 12.7-kilometer time trial in 13 minutes, 31 seconds, finishing ahead of Belgian the pair of Remco Evenepoel and Wout van Aert.
"It's such a big relief to win here in front of the home crowd, my family is here, my wife and my son," Keung said. "I saw all my friends and family here, and that for sure gave me some extra motivation."
Monday's second of eight stages is a 173.7 kilometers from Beromuenster to Nottwil. Even with some steep climbing, it is aimed for sprinters.
