Two-time world road race champion Julian Alaphilippe will miss Sunday's Amstel Gold cycling classic with an injured knee, his team said.
Soudal-Quick Step team manager Patrick Lefevere said Alaphilippe suffered a knee issue in the Tour of Flanders on April 2 where he finished 51st and "since it's been a bit miserable for him".
The Belgian team hope to have the 30-year-old fit for La Fleche Wallonne on April 19, a race he has won three times in 2018, 2019 and 2021.
Alaphilippe has had a slow start to the season with just one win in the Ardeche Classic in February, struggling in the Strade Bianche (43rd) and Milan-Sanremo (11th) in Italy and the Tour of Flanders.
